Colours of Contact Lenses

Colours of Contact Lenses - Get Lost in those Purple(?) Eyes

Nowadays, there are many colours of contact lenses available to suit your every mood.

If you only want a slight eye color change, then contact lens colours generally fall under two categories: opaque contacts (for darker eyes) and enhancer contacts (for light eyes).

However, if you want a change that will cause heads to turn your way, go for wild colors that introduce a hint of green, purple or even yellow in your eyes.

Colored Contact Lenses - Taking the Boredom Out of your Contacts

A subtle color shading in your lenses can drastically change your appearance.

So if you want to try something new or are simply bored with the contacts you are wearing now then start looking for the colored pair that suits you.

Online sites can really be a big help in deciding which colored lens to choose.

For instance, if you are unsure of the color that would best suit your natural eye color, many contact lens websites have an online eye color palette you can use.

Simply click the color that closely resembles your natural eye color and a list of colored contact lenses (and how they would look on you) are shown.

Select the one you like best and simply order online.

It really can’t get any easier than that.

Colored lenses are also extremely popular during parties.

If you’re having a Halloween or any type of masquerade or costume ball, shock friends by showing up with eye lenses that sport zebra stripes or resemble a cat’s eye.

Indeed, colored lenses have never been this fun!

Inflatable Pancake For VSTOL Aircraft

August 4th, 2008

Due to the need to take of and land aircraft in smaller spaces and also to provide more safety to air travel new technologies will be needed. Many scientists and aerospace engineers envision aircraft capable of anti-gravity with super ultra-light weight materials, which will enable them to take of vertically or near vertically.

VTOL or vertical take-off and Landing aircraft and STOL or short take-off and landing aircraft are the main focus for many visionaries in the aerospace sciences. Most accidents in aviation occur during the critical take off or landing phase of the flight. These include mid-air collisions, stall-spin accidents and low and slow emergencies.

I propose a new design for VTOL and STOL aircraft configurations. I was considering an expandable very large inflatable Frisbee shaped device to go under the aircraft and would be expanded before landing for a massive air cushion effect. Of course this concept would need to be tested in a wind tunnel with a workable model or cad cam hooked to a computer with the appropriate data sets to see if it would work. Although I have not written this up officially or completed any drawings and it is still in the thinking phase let me help you we visualization in your mind. Think of it as an “Inflatable Pancake For VSTOL Aircraft” and call it an “IPV” device.

Well it is my thought that I would expand the device slowly as the aircraft slowed and use the shape to provide air over the top and bottom for lift until it slowed enough to catch the air, as it transitioned to enjoy the benefits of the trapped air for deflection lift effect. It would be like a giant Frisbee inflating under the aircraft and the aircraft riding on top. Of course at first glance one might question this design and my concern is the wobbling could cause a crash or to turn on its side. But if the aircraft would still be under power on top it could provide the necessary flight control.

Then as it got close to the ground it would cup the air in an aircushion and then the engines would be used to blast low pressure under the inflated Frisbee shaped device at 6 PSI, 5 PSI, 4 PSI, 3 PSI, 2 PSI and land like a feather. But, really I am still thinking on this. But I went to sleep on it and dreamed about the design. I think I can do it actually, it is all with in the normal physics currently known to average humans. Think on this.

The Key To Success - Choose The Right Partners

July 29th, 2008

Do you promote yourself as offering prompt, reliable and quality service?

Of course - none of us promote ourselves as anything less, and equally we strive to
provide this level of service all the time.

So what happens when you take your networking to the next level, and start to offer
referrals, or even establish partnerships or alliances for certain activities?

Whatever you do at this point creates significant impact on your business and
personal reputation - potentially positive and also potentially negative.

One of the successes of Global Business and Development Solutions (globizdev.com) is not just that we are
an alliance spanning Australia, South Africa, UK and the USA. Rather, our success
results because we share like values, and each commit to providing the same level
of service, whether individually sourced, referred, or a shared client.

I am using the word ‘partner’ loosely - as a catch all for someone we refer business
to/from, someone we collaborate on a project with, someone we join market and so
on.

Regardless - choosing the right partner is critical.

So how do I choose the right partner?

At some point depending on the level of activity you enter, it could be important to
get specialist legal, due diligence and other financial advice - which is beyond the
scope of this article. Some key principles I have followed to successfully establish
partnerships and alliances include:

• Looking for organisations and individuals who share the same values as you

• Ensuring you enter the arrangement with their success in mind, not just yours

• Being prepared to not lead every initiative

• Looking for partners with complementary products and services

• Identifying gaps in your own knowledge, skills and experiences and seeking
partners to ‘fill’ these

• Not expecting overnight success

• Being prepared to foster a long-term mutually beneficial arrangement

Will following these steps guarantee success and remove all potential for conflict?

Obviously not.

However, following these steps is core in demonstrating a genuine desire to work
with others, to support each other in growth and development.

Remember, too, that establishing such arrangements is likely to be just one element
of an overall sales and marketing plan for you or your organisation. Even if you
have an excellent partner, or partners, marketing efforts individually and collectively
remain important.

I you are an independent professional, or a small service organisation, you might
benefit from the Free Marketing Plan Workbook from Action Plan Marketing, which
you can download from globizdev.com on the Additional Resources page.

I have found enormous personal and business benefits from establishing quality
partnerships, and I hope you enjoy similar successes.

Information products can be easily sold on the internet in the form of an ebook or “electronic book.” Its just like a real book but in “digital form” and can be easily read over the internet. Ebooks are easy to create in about 10 to 12 hours time compare that to a real book that can take up to a year to create. Self Improvement With Affirmations

July 24th, 2008

Affirmations are very powerful tools that can be key in bringing about change in your life, whether it is in the form of personal change or bringing new situations into your life. Self-affirmations are healing, optimistic messages that you give to yourself to counter your negative messages. Affirmations resemble visualization with mental images but words are used instead. Words you say out loud, read or write each day that will help you internalize what you want to be and what you hope to achieve. Affirmations are self improvement prophecies that when visualized and believed in will come true.

Just repeating the words is not enough. Affirmations are not magical sentences that are said just a few times and then create miracles. For affirmations to produce results, they should be repeated often with feeling and conviction.

Affirmations are said starting with the words: “I am”, “I can”, and “I will”. An I am affirmation is a statement of who you are such as I am intelligent or I am creative. An I can affirmation is a statement of your potential and power to change such as I can be strong or I can be a winner. An I will affirmation is a statement of positive change that you want to accomplish such as I will control my temper or I will handle financial matters wisely today. Affirmations should always be stated in a positive manner. An excellent way to use affirmations is to right down 30 of them, each on a separate index card. Each day of the month focus on one affirmation. Keep the card with you displayed in your sight and read it out loud during the day.

Affirmations help you to improve yourself because by nature humans are compelled to follow what they believe in. What motivates you is your belief in the end result. If you continually tell yourself something, your inner self will make it become true. Affirmations strengthen ambition, create new solutions and activate the subconscious mind in order to make your affirmation come true. The affirmations you repeat will become a positive habit that will result in self improvement of your mind, body and soul.

Top Ten Ways Working Moms Can Take Care of Themselves

July 24th, 2008

1. Get enough sleep.

This means making sure the kids go to bed early enough so you can. Have an evening routine that is calming for everyone.

2. Eat well.

Yes you know it. Most of you don’t do it. It is just as easy to grab a piece of fruit as a basket of fries. You and your kids will feel better if you eat three good meals a day. Do the shopping, planning and cooking together. This gives you bonding time and teaches the kids good skills to help out around the house.

3. Exercise.

I know you’re exhausted at night and don’t have time in the morning, but if you’re stopping for coffee or vegging out in front of the TV you have time. Do something - anything. It all helps. Better yet - take a class with the kids.

4. Look your best.

Get a great haircut. Wear the best clothes you can afford. When we look good we feel good and we smile more.

5. Smile.

You’ll automatically feel better. Even better - laugh.

6. Count your blessings.

Your mother was right, count your blessings. Make a gratitude list. We all have a multitude of things to be grateful for. Post your list and add to it. Have the kids make one too.

7. Ask for help.

We don’t have to do it all alone. Ask family, friends, co-workers, and organizations for help. From babysitting to yard cleanup to a ride to the store. People love to be needed. (Just don’t use them)

8. Help others.

Nothing feels as good as service. Get the kids involved. Help clean up the beach or mow the elderly neighbor’s lawn. Helping each other makes all our lives easier.

9. Connect to your spirituality.

Whatever that is for you. Nature, music, church, gardening. Do something at least once a week that makes you feel whole.

10. Lower your expectations.

Yes - LOWER your expectations. Of yourself and of your kids. You’re not supermom and they aren’t superkids. Cut all of you some slack.

Listening - A Life Skill for Success!

July 23rd, 2008

When I decided to have my web site built, I discovered 5 web site
designers whose portfolios I found professional and creative. On
approach, four of them asked me to fill out time consuming forms
detailing my needs and objectives but none took the time to call me.
However, the fifth designer started his sell by calling, listening to my
needs, asking questions and following up with a detailed proposal. He
called again for feedback and asked further questions about my needs.
It was this coupled with his professional approach why I decided he was
the one I wanted to work with.

Whether you are dealing with a client, business associate, parent,
spouse or child you cannot expect to win business, be understood or
bring out the best in others unless you learn the art of listening correctly.
Most people who experience difficulty in their relationships, whether
business or personal, sincerely believe that they are listening to the
other person but a closer look will tell you that most communication
conflicts are fuelled by an inability to fully engage in listening.

Can you remember at time when you were listened to? How great did
that feel? Well, good listening has a positive influence and can increase
your success with others. There is something deeply gratifying about
being heard and can be the key to improving the quality of life for
another human being. You will also be armed with a deeper
understanding of the people you are in daily contact with and better
equipped to meet their needs. Now isn’t that something worth pursuing?

So, if you are ready to improve your listening skills, first take on board
that listening isn’t something you do but who you are. By this I mean,
how genuinely interested in others are you? If you are only looking to be
heard, have no real desire to take on board another’s point of view and
only want your own interests taken care of, you will reap resistance from
others. So if you want to be heard ensure you take the time to listen as
well!

Secondly, check your body position. We might say we are listening with
our ears but our body position sends out a non-verbal message as to
whether we are fully engaged. Having a correct body position helps us
to retain what is being said, so adopt a good attentive posture by:

Ensuring you are facing the person when you are talking to them, don’t
sit facing away or walk into another room saying you can still hear them!

If seated, sit comfortable and lean forward at times to show that you are
interested.

Use hand gestures, smiles, nods and eye contact to let the other person
know you are listening.

Thirdly, don’t cut in half way through their conversation, attempt to finish
what they are saying or jump straight in with your response. Check for
clarification first, summarising helps ensure that you have gained all the
facts!

Fifth, be assertive! If now is really an impossible time to talk then let the
other person know! Book a time when you can both sit down
uninterrupted, you will be appreciated for your honesty far more then
showing distraction!

Six, use open-ended questions, by this I mean questions that invite the
other person to share more, rather than issue a yes or no response. For
example:

Open ended: What could you do instead? What do you think would
happen if? Is there another way of?
Closed: Is this the right way to do this? Are you all right? Do you want to
do that?

Seven, don’t be quick to give advice unless it is asked for. Learn to be
comfortable with just being there, asking good questions and getting to
know the heart of another individual!

Being listened to increases self worth because it sends out a message
to the other person they are worth the time and are significant.

Now that’s a sure way of winning people!

Lessons From Cusano: Bringing Upward Mobility to Independent Cigar Makers

July 22nd, 2008

Both cigar retailers and producers are basking in the warm sun of rising cigar sales. As stalwarts like Altadis, USA continue to report solid growth in their earnings, independent cigar makers like Cusano and Alec Bradley are having to hire more employees to meet demand. These independent producers are discovering they are part of a changing world in which the newest cigar smokers — a growing population of twenty-something aficionados — are looking at them not as fringe independents, but creators of some of the highest rated smokes around. After hundreds of years of dominance by entrenched name brands, the independent cigar makers have finally found a way to garner upward mobility.

The result of all this is not unlike what has happened to the wine world in the last thirty years. Just as wine drinkers are realizing you don’t have to go to the entrenched omnipresent regions of France to find great wine, cigar smokers are discovering that the highest quality handmade cigars are not necessarily from Cuba. The Dominican Republic, Honduras, Nicaragua and other countries are doing for cigars what Napa Valley, Australia and Chile have done for wine. Leading the charge to pioneer distinctive cigar tastes and styles in these areas are the independent producers like Cusano, Alec Bradley and others.

Cusano, for example, smuggled tobacco out of Cuba and blended it with their own strains to create a remarkably distinct and full flavor for its Cusano Corojo 97′. The 97′ along with the Cusano 18 both received a 91 rating from Cigar Aficionado, an accomplishment that puts them in the top 1% of all cigars rated. This comes from a company that had six employees a year ago (that number has now more than doubled).

Certainly there are a number of factors that converged to help these independents get their foot in the door. The 90’s cigar boom saw such an explosive increase in sales that it was easy for start-ups to get investment capital and begin making some money. The natural result of this was that thousands of low-quality cigar makers materialized to cash in on the buying frenzy, nearly all of which are now defunct. But the few producers with vision were given the opportunity to get started and now that vision is paying off.

It has also helped a great deal that the dawn of the information age coincided with the cigar boom. Buzz that was nearly impossible to create pre-internet seemed to propagate itself through cigar forums, blogs, websites and email. Independents no longer needed a mammoth marketing budget to launch new products and get them recognized. The internet, in turn, has helped bring distinctive, independently produced cigars to the attention of major publications like Cigar Aficionado and Robb Magazine. A single mention in a feature article means phones are ringing off the hook, and that means more money for independents to grow and continue to explore their vision.

Now add on to these factors that independent producers tend to be younger and more innovative, and thus eager to tap into new markets like flavored cigars and viral internet marketing. It begins to become clear that these are the businesses that will lead the cigar industry in coming years, rather than the behemoths that are content to do business the way it’s been done for centuries.

As this new era of independent cigar production dawns, it’s comforting to know that most of the producers are cigar hobbyists just like their customers — that they understand cigars and will continue to bring their best to the table. Getting a top quality cigar for less than $5 a stick that happens to not be Cuban is certainly something every cigar smoker can appreciate, and getting more of them in the future is something we can all look forward to. When has there been a better time to be a cigar smoker?

Developing A Contract

June 24th, 2008

As a service provider, the most important type of “boundary” you can set as a business owner involves those policies and procedures that govern how you interact with your clients. The more precise you can be about the services you provide, your fee structure, and what you expect from your clients, the smoother your work relationships will be. And the most effective way to make sure that each party involved understands these policies — and that there is no confusion — is to have each client read and sign a written contract.

WHY HAVE A CONTRACT

Some entrepreneurs will enter into working relationships without the benefit of a contract. Certainly, as an business owner, you are welcome to do whatever you wish. However, I would caution you against this practice for a couple of reasons. First, you are setting your customers up for confusion about your business policies down the road. Having each client sign a contract before beginning work allows you to make sure they understand how you work, your pricing structure, and any other pertinent information up front. A contract also gives you a measure of protection if a client fails to uphold his or her end of the bargain — sometimes the mere mention of a contract is enough to keep your clients in line. Finally, a contract adds a measure of professionalism to your business. People tend to take a businessperson more seriously when he or she pulls out a well-written contract. And anything that increases your credibility can only be a bonus!

A written agreement does several things for you:

- clarifies your pricing and policies

- insures that your client understands your requirements

- outlines the services you provide

- protects you against loss of income from clients who cancel or no-show

- gives you leverage in an legal dispute with a client

So what do you need to include in your contract? Here are a list of issues to consider:

SERVICES

Exactly what services will you provide? Exactly what do you require of the client for a successful relationship? What are the anticipated results of the services you will provide the client? How will you measure those results? What kind of guarantee do you provide? How do you determine when the terms of the contract have been met and when services have successfully been rendered?

SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT TIMES

How will you schedule appointments with a client — in writing or with a verbal agreement? How will you handle a situation when your client is running late — and how long will you wait for a client after the scheduled appointment time before assuming canceling the appointment? How will you compensate the client if you are running late?

PRICING

How will you charge for your services — by the hour? By the day? By the project? Will you present a formal proposal, a binding bid, or a flexible estimate prior to beginning work? Will you charge separately for other services — shopping for supplies, researching other solutions, consulting with other professionals? Will you charge for travel — and how far are you willing to travel to work with a client? Will you work with clients who live outside of your city or state? What is your minimum charge for an “out-of-town” client? Will you charge extra for working on weekends? Evenings? Holidays? For “rush” jobs?

PAYMENT TERMS

When do you expect to be paid by your client? At the time that services are rendered? Within 30 days? 60 days? 90 days? Will you collect a retainer and subtract worked hours from that balance as you go? Will you present your client with a bill when you meet with your customer — or mail an invoice later?

CANCELLATION FEE

How much notice will you require when a client cancels an appointment? 24 hours? 48 hours? What are the consequences of canceling without adequate notice? How will you handle a no-show? Will you charge for the entire scheduled session? A flat fee? Is it due even if your client chooses not to reschedule the appointment? How will you collect? And how will you compensate the client if you have to cancel or no-show?

LATE PAYMENT AND NON-PAYMENT

What will your fee be for paying late — a percentage? A flat fee? When does the clock start ticking? How long will you allow a late fee to remain due until you escalate your efforts? Will you use a collections agency to recoup money owed? Will you take a client to small claims court?

CONFIDENTIALITY

How will you protect any sensitive business, personal, financial, or legal information you learn about a client? Under what circumstances may you share this information with another person or organization? What documentation of permission do you require from the client before discussing his or her issues with another person?

MAKING IT LEGAL

A solid contract is one of the easiest and most proactive ways to prevent client misunderstandings and potential legal entanglements. You may use these guidelines to develop the basic structure of your contract, but please be sure to have an attorney review it - to make sure that the language is appropriate and the document will stand up in court. Good luck!
