Treatments for Disorders of Puberty Information

September 25th, 2009

Precocious puberty is much more common than it ever was before. This early puberty doesnt necessarily mean that there is medical problem, but it can be associated with an underlying medical condition that is causing this early puberty.

There are various types of treatments for disorders of puberty, and if the precocious puberty diagnosis shows that its due to a medical condition than treatments will depend on what the cause is. There are tumors that may be causing the problem. A tumor would produce hormones that are causing the precocious puberty. The treatment would be to remove the tumor. There are other medical conditions that will cause this problem, a tumor is not the only cause of the early onset puberty known as precocious.

If the early puberty onset is happening for no medical reason there is nothing that can really be done to stop it from happening. It seems as if there are more and more children that are beginning to develop earlier than ever before. There are claims that the hormones in milk and meat are the cause of this, along with genetics will cause early onset puberty.

One of the biggest problems is precocious puberty coping. Its difficult enough to deal with puberty when you are at the expected age. The changes physically and mentally are all new and many other problems follow after you hit puberty. And when your child experiences this earlier than their friends and classmates they will have a whole new set of problems that will lead to low self-esteem, depression and other types of social problems. Its so important that you are talking to your child about the feelings that they may be experiencing. You will need to talk to them about more than just puberty itself but what may be happening at school. Kids are mean and since your child may look different they can pick on your child making it even that much more difficult.

Be sure that you seek counseling for your child to better understand the changes that they are experiencing and how they can handle their emotions and all of the issues that come along with early puberty. You can find many counselors that are experienced with this right online and you can also talk with your childs doctor as well for a referral.
