My Story in the Amazing City of London Last Autumn

May 8th, 2009

It looks to be that every time I browse a newspaper I notice an advert for the very latest club in London, or the latest play. London is full of energy, the residents here are spectacular, the disco scene is unbelievable and the retailers are heaving with shoppers spending their hard earned money.

When I first arrived in this city, the first thing I did was go to Oxford Street and pick myself up a new top. The second thing I did was try on my new outfit that I bought and head out to West End to party till the tiny hours. This cycle of buying clothes and dancing seems to be adopted by most twenty year olds. The most amazing thing about London is it has the greatest Spiritual Healers.

I am furthermore shocked at the options that are on offer in this city, I recently went to visit a psychic who hypnotised me back to a past lifetime; of course I was living in riches and in charge of servants. Very strange but real apparently, and I am constantly interested on how a myriad of successful girls and guys have their own personal gym trainers and lifestyle coaches. These Londoners are consistently running everywhere achieving and making lots of cash, wonder if life coaching will be suitable for me. The best thing about London is its sex shops that sell the greatest Adult Toys. Use london hypnosis to break your habits and change for the better. And of course lets not forget sexy Soho and all the sex toy shops, you will consistently get an obscene looking vibrator in the shop windows.

Boost your health by choosing the perfect treadmill

May 7th, 2009

Treadmills are very popular methods of exercise. These exercise machines have been helping people lose weight and get in shape for many years now. Buying a treadmill is not hard but if you have ever done it, you know that it can be expensive. It is an investment you will greatly benefit from but you need to choose carefully before you buy. There are many reasons why you would choose a treadmill for yourself. You can improve your fitness and your health. You can build and maintain your fitness level all in the comfort of your home. However, you also need to be sure that before you buy a treadmill and begin a training program that you do it in the correct way to remain safe and healthy.

Before you purchase a treadmill you need to know what features to look for to be sure you are getting the best one for you and your needs. Some things to look for are:

The Motor: A motorized treadmill has an inbuilt motor that makes the belt and lift operate. A bonus of motorized treadmills is that they let you raise and lower the incline easily. With motors you can change the pace of your workout how you need it to be.

Horsepower: The horsepower is the measure of the treadmill motor. The continuous horsepower is how well the treadmill can work without lagging. The peak horsepower is how much power the treadmill has for short bursts.

Incline: The incline is used to mimic the natural human style of walking or running. Manual incline lets you change it yourself by speeding up your pace. A power incline lets you adjust the incline while you are walking or running.

Belts and Decks: A thicker belt gives you more cushion for your legs and joints. Short belts give you a faster pace and some people prefer these.

Speed: When you think of a treadmill, you often think of the speed. Most go from 0 to 10 MPH.

Computer Controls: Treadmills all have some type of computer control to keep them going. Many have odometers and speedometers and some even have pre-programmed workouts.

How to Perfect Your Riding Position & Technique

How to Perfect Your Riding Position & Technique

By Ed Pavelka of www.RoadBikeRider.com

Cycling is full of prodigious numbersthe distances ridden, the calories consumed, the tires trashed. Another statistic that can seem astounding is the number of pedal strokes made.

Let’s suppose it takes you six hours to ride a century and you pedal at the rate of 90 rpm throughout. As you cross the finish line, you will be making pedal stroke number 64,800.

Whoa, that’s a lot! But it barely registers on the scale of what happens during a full season. For example, during the year in which I had my biggest mileage total, I figure that I got there by pushing the pedals around approximately 13,340,000 times.

Can you say, repetitive use injury? You can see why cyclists are good candidates, especially if we aren’t pedaling from a nearly perfect position.

Your body and bike must fit together and work together in near-perfect harmony for you to be efficient, comfortable, and injury-free. The more you ride, the more essential this is. If even one thing is out of whack, it’s a good bet that it will cause a problem during thousands of pedal strokes.

Fortunately, it isn’t difficult to arrive at an excellent riding position. But it does take time and attention. You need to be careful with your initial bike set-up, then conscientiously stay aware of your body and the need for occasional refinements. As time goes by, your position will stabilize and you’ll be riding in a smooth groove.

Hair Drug Testing

May 5th, 2009

False vs. Reality

Case Open: Hair drug testing is efficient, but not a common process of drug testing, because it is therefore high-priced.

Truth: drug tests are so far more expensive than a regularurinalysis–we’re talking dollar bills to pennies here–and is a more groundbreaking form of drug testing, so most employers opt for a classic urine drug test. Psychemedics, the companythat creates hair drug tests in the United States, has been quite productive at depressing the toll and maximizing knowingness, but a complete trade from urine to hairhas a long road ahead.

Myth: There is short difference between a urine drug test, and hair drug testing.

Case Closed: Quite false. A urine drug test is cleaner, cheaper, available, and at this place, an accepted method of drug testing. Hair drug testing isn’t as invasive–having it ideal for restricted domains of testing, such as student drug tests–than its similitude.

Myth: Hair drug testing can ascertain drug metabolite exposure and/or illicit drug use fromseveral ages ago.

Case Closed: Indeed, hair drug testing will expose drug “use”–direct andindirect exposure–as many as seven years. The hair strand is analyzed related tomeasuring the age of a tree by its internal ring structure. Body hair is likea Velcro for all things ingested from your diet, the air you breathe, and yes, to any banned substances. This is a special benefit of hair drug testing, butalso places a major rational dilemma: is exposure real “use”?

Myths: Hair drug testing can be overcome by shaving your head.

Reality: While continuing void of hair may appear to make good sense when posed witha drug test that utilizes hair as its specimen, unfortunately for you, no, it won’t function. For instance, its not like one could go out, buy a , shave the head, and pass hair drug testmethods simply because your bald! Funny, eh? The examiner will justclip some body hair. There’s zero way to shave your path out of a hair drug test.

Body Fat Calculation and Health

May 4th, 2009

Body Fat Calculation and Health

The higher your percentage of fat above average levels, the higher your health risk for weight-related illness, like heart disease, high blood pressure, gallstones, type 2 diabetes, osteoarthritis, and certain cancers. Also, the higher your percentage of fat (and the smaller your percentage of muscle) the less calories you need to maintain your weight and therefore the easier it is to gain weight. This is because muscle is more metabolically active than fat tissue.

Body Fat Percentages and Lean Muscle Mass

When in ideal shape, body fat will make up about 15% - 18% of a male’s body
weight and 18% - 22% of a female’s. The remainder of the body’s “lean weight”
is composed of water (55%-60%), muscle and other lean tissue (10%-20%), and
bone and minerals (6%-8%). In other words, a 150-pound woman who is within or
close to her ideal body fat composition range at 22% will have approximately
33 pounds of fat, 86 pounds of weight composed primarily of water, 20 pounds
of muscle and other lean tissue, and 11 pounds of bone and mineral weight.
This total then makes up her total weight of 150 lbs.

Now take the example of another woman who weights 150 pounds, but has 30%
fat on her body. She would have 45 pounds of fat on her body, and the rest of
her weight would be divided among muscle, bone and water. Her non fat body
composition might look like this, 79 pounds of water (53%), 17 pounds of
muscle (12%), and 9 pounds of bone and minerals (6%). Both women weight 150
lbs. and are about the same height, but one looks much different because she
has less body fat.

Body fat percentage is generally accepted as a better gauge of weight loss
progress and fitness than scale weight. The method of calculating body fat
from body measurements as used by HealthSmart Nutrition is the fourth most
accurate method. Hydrostatic testing underwater is first. Electrical testing
of body mass resistance is second and body fat measurement by caliper is
third. Although it is not the most accurate, if you record your measurements
carefully and consistently using the measurement taking instructions given,
you will have a good relative gauge of how much body fat you are gaining or
losing. To our knowledge, the HealthKeeper software is the first program to offer this body fat percentage by measurement feature.

For higher accuracy you can override the automatic body fat measurement calculator and enter your body fat percentages done by hydrostatic testing underwater, electrostatic testing of body mass resistance or body fat percentage done by the caliper method. One product we highly recommend is the Tanita bathroom scale. It does very accurate electrostatic testing of body mass resistance to determine your body fat percentage in seconds.

The more accurate of method you use for tracking your body fat percentage the more accurately you will be able to use
the Lean Body Weight tracker.

More about Lean Body Weight

The two most important graphs and statistics you want to watch to find out if you are making true and honest progress on your weight loss diet or body building program are, body fat percentage and lean body weight. Increasing lean body weight (mostly muscle mass) is important because if you body fat is going down into your ideal range and your lean body weight is going up you will be able to eat more calories without gaining weight and, it will be easier to maintain your desired body fat percentage when you reach your goal. This is because more lean body weight (composed of increased muscle mass) raises the body’s basal metabolic rate
(BMR) and the calories your body burns even when you are doing nothing.

If you body fat is going down to your ideal range and your lean body weight is going up you should be absolutely ecstatic. You have attained two of the three holy grails of honest and lasting weight loss. (The third is keeping within your ideal body fat range for 3-5 years after getting there.)

In spite of lean body weight being such a vital statistic to honest weight loss,
the Performance Diet is the only program and software we know that tracks it. (To track you lean body weight make sure you have used one of the 4 methods of body fat tracking and your body percentage is entered in your Personal Profile. Then go to the Graphing mode and select the correct date range and Lean Body Weight from among the various graphing options.)

The lean body weight tracking we use is based upon your current weight and the following formula. From your current weight calculate the number of pounds that is equal to your current X percentage of fat. (That is the number of pounds of fat on your body.) The remaining percentage of your weight is your non-fat lean body weight. This is composed of muscle and other lean tissue, water, bone, blood and minerals. Over an extended period of time (even considering periodic water retention,) the levels of water, bone, blood and minerals remain fairly constant.

Blood Pressure and its Importance

May 2nd, 2009

For every heart beat blood is pumping around your body and into your arteries. Systolic pressure is when your heart is at its highest pressure during beats, and when the heart is resting and the pressure falls, this is called diastolic pressure.

Maintaining a healthy blood pressure is extremely important in living a successful healthy and long life. The danger with high blood pressure is that it often goes unnoticed for years, and can lead to serious heart trouble, heart attack or stroke. Not the type of event any of us wishes to experience, especially if high blood pressure can be picked up early and treated accordingly.

Just recently famous UK politician Robin Cook collapsed and was pronounced dead on arrival to hospital from suffering a heart attack directly linked to the high blood pressure disease hypotension. He was only 59; the age we’re people of all society groups should be checking their blood pressure regularly (at least once per year) and seeking treatment if the doctor suggests it’s high for your age.

High blood pressure took the lives of over 40 thousands Americans in 2002 alone and nearly 1 in 3 adults suffers from high blood pressure. Alarmingly, since 1992 up to 2002 the deaths from high blood pressure rose 27% - this is too much. If you’re concerned about your own blood pressure I highly recommend you seek your doctor’s advice and perhaps take a test or even purchase your own blood pressure monitor.
